Who sees whose name
The poster decides for each posting. A named posting shows the company, while an anonymous one shows only "a ship owner" or "a cargo owner". When the poster answers an enquiry, only that enquirer sees the company name.
The poster always sees who sent an enquiry, and each desk can send one enquiry per posting. After the first reply, the two sides continue by e-mail and phone as usual.
What is never posted
Nothing from a desk’s private notes. A posting is a copy of the fields the poster chose, taken when they press the button, and the original record stays private to their desk. A rate idea stays hidden unless the poster chooses to show it.
What the free account allows
Up to three live postings at a time with no card, and you can answer any posting on the marketplace. Paid plans allow more: ten on Desk, twenty-five on Chartering, no limit on Fleet.
A ship posted by its own owner or manager carries a verified-owner mark, which means someone at Neptune Labs Inc. has checked a document showing the company owns or manages it.
Where the data comes from
Each ship is linked to the world fleet register, so its IMO number (the ship’s permanent ID), deadweight (how much it can carry) and year built come from the register. A cargo takes its ports from the same list of 11,425 ports the estimator uses. Ship owners have a page of their own, as do cargo owners, and the plans show what each plan includes.
