Ship chartering software for brokers and chartering desks

Every hull, and who is open where.

Search the world merchant fleet, find open tonnage, identify owners and managers, manage cargo enquiries, and keep fixtures and chartering workflows in one desk.

Vessel enquiries in Neptune Atlas: a world chart marking where the desk's open tonnage is free, above the position list it was drawn from.

Everything you need to run a modern chartering desk

Vessel data, open tonnage, cargo enquiries, owner and manager contacts and the fixture book, in one platform built for a commercial shipping desk rather than adapted to one.

  1. Cargo enquiries

Commodity, quantity, laycan, load and discharge port or range, and the requirements behind the stem.

  2. Open tonnage

Matched on deadweight, vessel type, trading region and the date she comes free.

  3. Fixtures

Rate, basis, laycan, parties and status, from negotiating through to fixed.

  4. Laytime and demurrage

Statement of facts in UTC, with demurrage and despatch calculated from it.

See Neptune Atlas in action

The vessel register, position lists, tonnage search, cargo enquiries, owner and manager contacts, fixtures, voyage tools and laytime, each on the screen a broker works it from. Vessels, companies and ports are real production records; the positions and fixtures are a worked example, as a new account starts with an empty book.

Position lists

Open dates, the port or trading area, and the source of the report. The circulated wording is held alongside the parsed dates, since abbreviations such as OPEN SPORE 11/14 AUG DELY DOP carry terms no structured field records. Position lists are circulated by owners and competing brokers and are not available from any vendor.

The vessel enquiries screen: ships with open dates, ports, trading regions and the owner's original wording.

Vessel data coverage and known gaps

26,304hulls with an IMO and no deadweight on file. They cannot appear in a deadweight search, and the product says so on the screen where you run one.

No vessel database has perfect coverage. Neptune Atlas publishes the gaps it knows about instead of quietly leaving the rows out.

Predominantly newbuildings and small craft recorded without particulars. Every fleet register carries this gap; the count is reported alongside each search result.

Ownership is the same. Registered owners are not sold in bulk by any vendor, so the contact chain runs through the commercial and technical managers, and hulls with no researched party are marked as such.

A result that states what it could not evaluate is more useful than one that reports a total without qualification.

Three records, never blended into one feed

Where a ship is, when she is commercially available, and what a port expects at its berths are three different questions. Neptune Atlas keeps them apart.

AIS
Where is the vessel now? A position fix, minutes or hours old, that says nothing at all about her employment.
Open tonnage
When is she expected to become commercially available, and where? Circulated by owners and competing brokers by e-mail, and sold by no vendor.
Port information
What does the port authority expect at its berths? Published by each authority in its own format, which is why it is never inferred from a position on a chart.

A vessel sitting outside a port is not necessarily a vessel that is open there. Every product in this market flattens the three into a single arrivals feed; this one holds them apart. The three records, side by side.

Find vessel owners, managers and contacts

Identify the manager behind a hull, find the contacts to write to, record the correspondence, and work the largest fleets first. Role addresses such as chartering@ are distinguished from named individuals, because a role address survives a staff change and a person does not. Who owns a ship.

For every party to a fixture

Built for the broker first. Since August 2026 an account says what it is, and the desk opens on the screen that party works from. The plan decides what is included; the word decides where you land.

Ship brokers

The job itself: circulars in, the match you make, the fixture out. Shipbroking software for a desk that owns neither the cargo nor the ship, built around a mailbox and a memory rather than around somebody else's fleet.

Claim your hulls from the register. The certificate folder with expiry alerts, the survey calendar beside the vendor's dates, port state inspections, last position and the fixture each hull is on, then open tonnage offered to every desk in one press.

Charterers and port agents work the desk as it stands: the register, the enquiries, the fixture book, laytime from the statement of facts. All five post to and answer the marketplace, which is on every plan including the free one, three postings live at a time.

Common questions about ship chartering software

What is ship chartering software?

A workspace for the commercial side of moving cargo by sea: finding vessels, matching open tonnage to a cargo enquiry, negotiating with owners and charterers, recording the fixture, and running the laytime that follows it. Neptune Atlas compared with the alternatives.

What is Neptune Atlas?

A shipbroking and ship chartering platform built around a commercial desk. It holds the world merchant fleet, position lists, tonnage search, cargo enquiries, owner and manager contacts, the fixture book and the post-fixture workflow in one place. It is a commercial product rather than a directory or an educational resource. What Neptune Atlas does, surface by surface.

Who is Neptune Atlas for?

Shipbrokers and commercial chartering desks that need to search vessels, find tonnage, work cargo enquiries, reach owners and managers, and keep fixtures in one book rather than across a spreadsheet and an inbox. Owners, charterers and cargo owners have their own pages and the same plans. Who Neptune Atlas is for, desk by desk.

What is open tonnage?

A ship expected to become commercially available for new employment, with a date and a place. It is not the same as an AIS position: knowing where a ship is does not tell you whether or when she is open.

Does Neptune Atlas show AIS vessel positions?

Yes, from the Chartering plan upward. The live map draws hulls from AIS fixes and states the age of the freshest fix on screen. AIS is held apart from open tonnage, so a physical position is never read as commercial availability.

Does Neptune Atlas handle laytime and demurrage?

Yes, from the Chartering plan upward. A statement of facts is recorded against the fixture in UTC, and laytime, demurrage and despatch are calculated from it and from the terms already agreed on that fixture. There is also a free calculator, open to anybody, with no account. Open the laytime calculator.
